Bringing history to life
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember,
involve me and I learn.”
― Benjamin Franklin
Relocated to Georgia in 2019, Jurassic Park was first up for our annual yard display. Here is a walk though with Dr. Grant an angry volcano, and a dino on the loose!
Click here to see the walk though with the action going on Halloween night!
We needed a grand entrance. Thanks to stagecraft at the U of A and high school, we were able to accomplish just that!
As guests entered the Visitor Center, they were greeted by a 10-foot DIY T-Rex skeleton!
It took about a day to build from PVC pipe from the Mayflower, felt and Cheerios boxes plus some tooth picks for the teeth!
Then guests moved on into the
Guests badges included all the food they could eat whenever they wanted except for candy and a special drink (they used their cafe cash).
There was a Carnivorous assortment of sandwiches as well as an Herbavore arrangement of fruits and vegetables.
After an initial visit to the Mosasaurus Cafe it was time for a Paleontology lesson with Dr. Hampton & Dr. Grant out in the Park.
She even has a Velociraptor resinating champer that really makes a sound!
and she gets a call on the satellite phone with the tell tale ring (Kirby Paint and Tile Plus in Westgate)
Hear that converstion here. This was the 2nd call confirming- something is loose in the park!
So Dr. Grant wheels out a wagon full of dino poo- yes someting IS loose in the park, but what? Let's dig through it and see what it ate to give us some clues.
See a breif clip here
In case anyone came across a loose dinosaur, we passed out the stun-guns (nerf) and had a target training.
It was discovered that someone had an an ice chest up in the tree, but what was in there?
We need to get as many raptor eggs across the suspension bridge back into the nest without dropping any!
The Raptor was waiting and watching...
and after about a minute on the bridge, he attacked!
There were stand-offs on the bridge,
No one was safe!
He was finally captured and all the eggs were placed safely back in the nest (after the candy in them was distributed among the children.
After all the excitement, it was time for
His Aunt made an awesome cake!
Some other random things:
We had a Tankylosaurus (a sulcata tortoise)
See video here
See the video in the day here
Again with the soundtrack playing!
Hope you enjoyed our adventures!

How do you do a cool Jurassic Park/World themed Birthday party?
Even the internet was as scarce on ideas as the dinos themselves, so we put our thinking caps on, had a Jurassic movie marathon (all of them) and looked to the Lego X-box game for inspiration!
I think the results speak for themselves!
Guests were greeted with a Welcome bag which had their personalized Visitor Badge and other pertinent things they would need at the park (ie: fake $ they would use in the cafe).
We were park workers and below were our badges.
Including dino-egg cantelope!
They first went through and searched for a mosquito trapped in amber to get some Dino DNA
We made our own dino-sized mosquitos and then trapped them in amber (home-made soap) guests could take home.
Then, looked though a microscope at specimens from 'dinos', real bones (from something very old and big found near the house- for real!), and then 'excavated' a dino skeleton (by eating the chocolate)!
The satellite phone- our 1st cell phone a Motorola, circa 1996. One of the Characters worked on the Motorola Iridium project which is the satellite phone used in the movies.
and its time to dig- what's in there?
and in case it's a small dino that's loose, it is always good to have some T-Rex urine on hand just in case!
(it's pineapple juice)
What's in the chest?
Raptor Eggs???
Oh no, you stole Raptor eggs?
We better get those back into the nest before it comes back!
stand-off's in the Park,
He even got by Dr. Grant!
He did a great job as the raptor!
Some other random things:
triple waterfall
A great time was had by all!
Fol Halloween this year, we added a Jurassic twist! Dr. Grant sat out and handed out candy along with his dino bone display and baby mosasaurus tank.
Waiting for trick or treaters, was a rapor. Just the unknown standing in the shadows was enough to scare adults and kids alike!
